Flyers announced yesterday that they’re going to use a compliance buyout on Danny Briere. It’s not a surprise. With the salary cap going down $6 million, and Briere’s decreased scoring over the last two years, everyone knew his buyout was coming. You can’t carry a $6.5 million cap hit and fall off like he did.
It’s still a bummer though. He was a huge part of the team for the past six years. A great mentor to the new kids and Mr. Playoffs. One of those guys you love to have on your team and hate when your team is playing against him. Here’s hoping he doesn’t light Philly up too bad when he returns.
